On October 2, 1867, Levi Stockbridge welcomed 34 freshmen to campus. He followed this with a practical class in shucking corn, raking hay, picking apples and taking out broken fences. Under his supervision as General Supervisor and the first employee of Mass Aggie, three buildings were constructed in preparation for the first class, the South College (dormatory and classrooms),a Botanical Museum, and College Hall also known as the Chemistry Building. The North College dormitory was completed in 1868.
